"Lucia" - Face #32 at the de Young Open 2023

Very excited to announce “Lucia” - Face #32 from the Dark Lovely series (30”x40” oil on wood) was selected for this salon style show showcasing the diversity and breadth of art in the 9 Bay Area counties. It is the first time I have submitted and am very excited to share this special piece with a larger audience. I havent yet developed the scent for this but notes are listed below her origin story:

Lucia lives on a secret saffron farm in Sweden surrounded by apples, poppies, and mustard. Throughout the darkness of long winters her internal light shines, echoing the candles worn during the St. Lucia festival where saffron buns are shared by all. Her luminous saffron crown tops the portrait with poppy eyes and a soft pink mouth of blooming crocus. Firm apples define her bust veiled only slightly by tender branches and new flowers.

Notes: Saffron, Quince Accord, Apple Blossoms, Poppies, Winter Darkness, Candlelight and Reflections.

At the DeYoung Sept 30- Jan 5. Free on Saturdays for SF residents
